Requesting Assistance About the LTO-5 Tape Drive
Hi
My HPE LTO-5 Ultrium 3000 SAS external tape drive model AQ280 # 040 is installed on HP Proliant Microserver Gen8 G1610T model 819185-421 on Windows server 2008 R2 standard service (x64) pack1 connected to HP Ultrium SAS card M8705A SCSI Sequential Device Model 4K13B5 by HP Cable 407344-003 2 meters External Mini SAS
It should be noted that to take the references of the card; I removed the card to scan the barcode; but unfortunately after mounting, the tape drive is not detected and the driver of the HP Ultrium M8705A SCSI Sequential Device SAS adapter becomes unknown
Before disassembly of the card; the tape drive appears on the device manager
for that; in addition to the request of assistance for the configuration of the HPE LTO-5 tape drive in LTFS, I seek the starting of the tape drive in question

You just need to download HPE StoreOpen Standalone to run LTFS if you’re wanting free software.

Make sure your tape drive has the latest firmware using HP LTT. Check on your SAS card to see if it supports LTFS tape drives, not all SAS cards are capable.
I believe HP LTT also has an LTFS readiness check tool now as well.

Running the HPE LTFS configuration software gives us the message ” No suitable tape drives found ”
Running the L & TT software gives us the message “L & TT does not support this device”.
Running the Smart Storage Administrator software on the Smart Array P222 board diagnostic report in slot 1 we had 2 errors
• 283 Smart Array P222 in connector 1 is disabled because the cache module is not connected• There is no configurable physical disk connected to the current Smart RAID / HBA.
What’s the solution?

Something is wrong with your HBA or the drive isn’t connected properly.
Is the drive showing up in device manager as an Ultrium-5?

Wait I see you have M8705A, which is a non-stop drive. Non-stop is a special drive and I don’t think you can use LTFS with it. You’ll need a normal drive.

Yes Does the Drive Appear in the Device Manager as Ultrium-5
This drive works with Imperius software and other backup software, but the problem is that when you add another backup, you overwrite the data and I want the sequential backup for archiving the digital data that is in hard drives
What is the difference between the non-stop drive and the normal drive?
What are the advantages of the non-stop reader? -
Non-Stop drives are specifically to be used in an HPE Stack environment, and generally cost 4-5x more than a normal drive. Usually only government or major corporations use them.
The LTFS utility is very specific and picky about the drives you’re using, so you’d need a regular HPE drive.
You may want to try Xen Data Workstation 6 for Windows since their LTFS package is vendor neutral.
