I currently have three displays on my main workstation (it was four but I needed a third on another workstation). Two are driven by the graphics card and the third is USB. Here’s what I use: https://www.amazon.com/Plugable-Multiple-2048×1152-1920×1200-DisplayLink/dp/B0038P1TP4

As long as you don’t put video on the USB display, you’ll be fine. (You can put video on the USB drive, but all the work is done by the CPU).

opps…Sorry, the Amazon link is incorrect

    correct https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-nVidia-GeForce-PCI-Express-01G-P3-N959-TR/dp/B001ENI3C4/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1313006131&sr=1-1

Looks like we’re both having trouble inserting an Amazon location. Just do a Google Search for: “Plugable Technologies UGA-2K-A”

    Hi Steve,
Google is my friend, and found it fine.
Thank you, this looks a like a great solution.

    Hey Steve,
I got the Plugable UGA-2K-A USB 2.0 to VGA/DVI/HDMI Adapter for Multiple Monitors, and it works great. I hooked it up to a new ViewSonic-22″ Widescreen LED Monitor via the HDMI port, and wow,
    this is prefect.

I can now sit at my Yamaha Synth and record music while looking the
Vegas Timeline and Preview. This is so cool!

    Thanks again,
    -Phil

    Glad I could help.

I have a couple of the Plugables now. It does take CPU resources, so anything less than a dual-core won’t work well.
