January 10, 2008 at 10:57 pmHello Sebastian. Thank you for posting the information about the Vegas 6 to Vegas 8 pro. I would like to do that. But when I went to the B&H site, the version 6 that they had listed for $79 did not indicate that it was the PRO version. And the upgrade to version 8 pro warns that it is only for upgrading earlier versions of the PRO. Was that the version 6 that you were talking about? Or was it a PRO version? If it was not, how did you know it would work?
Thanks, John Cullen -

January 11, 2008 at 1:06 amJohn, what B&H means by “a previous professional version of Vegas” is that it has to be Vegas 6, not Vegas Movie Studio.
BTW, Vegas 6 never had the “Pro” designation. -

January 11, 2008 at 7:51 amMike is right, as far as I know they added the Pro to the name starting with version 8. I’m pretty sure that the version 6 B&H is selling is the Pro of that number, because otherwise the CD would probably say Platinum but also I don’t think Vegas Pro 8 would install if it detected that the version 6 installed is not the Pro.

January 11, 2008 at 6:56 pmI’d like to say that I too did the B&H deal and now have Vegas 8 Pro running. I’m glad i did. Unfortunately for me I live in New York and paid about $21 in tax and shipping, but still for about $202 I got Vegas 8 Pro. Thanks for the tip Sebastian!
