Replacing merged clips footage
I am editing my friend’s short film, which was shot in 5k on an Epic. There was no audio captured on the camera, only separate audio from the sound guy. My friend has already spent a long time in Premier syncing the audio and creating merged clips. There is no jammed timecode in the audio.
My laptop/hard drive combination can’t play back the raw R3D files so I want to transcode the R3Ds into DNxHD, and I would like to keep the audio with it.
I have done a few tests and none seem to work:
- I have exported the bin with the merged clips as XML and bough th at into Redcine X but the audio doesn’t link up.
- I have transcoded an R3D into DNxHD and relinked the media in Premier to this proxy. This half worked but the clip retained the full 5K resolution and the new footage was tiny in the middle of the frame.
- I have tried to drag the merged clips into Adobe Media Composer but that looks like it should work, but it errors every time.
- I have imported the Premier Pro project into After Effects but the marged clips only appear as the R3D files, without sound.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I might be able to make proxy versions of the R3D files, with the audio, from these merged clips, or am I going to have to re-sync the audio in Redcine X and export the DNxHD files from there?
EDIT: I am using CC
