  • Replacing media with a veg file

Posted by Conrad Jaye on August 17, 2012 at 6:11 pm

I am doing a multicamera edit on vegas 11 and it dawned on me about half way through that some of my video was slanted (tripod wasn’t straight). I could go through and change each clip (since it is multicamera I can’t expand, change and then recreate the multicam since it would lose all the changes.) I wanted to put each file into it’s own veg and switch out the media (which already has a few days of editing on) with the vegs so I don’t lose all that time. Replace media won’t let me replace with a veg. If I rename the media folder and try to direct vegas to the veg as the missing file it won’t do that either.

Any quick ideas so I am not stuck with changing each individual clip?

The trick is to enter *.veg into the Filename text box and hit Enter 😉

You can run Vegasaur’s Replace Media tool to substitute them all (free 30 day trial period)

i am not sure how remaning something with a .veg would help.

[conrad jaye] “i am not sure how remaning something with a .veg would help. “

Aleksey didn’t tell you to rename anything. He was telling you to physically type “*.veg” in the Filename entry field so that the File Open Dialog will show you veg files so that you can select one.

[conrad jaye] “and I don’t think that program does veg files.”

Actually Aleksey wrote the program so he should know what it does and doesn’t do and since it was copied from VASST Ultimate S Pro which was the original program to have this ability, I can also tell you that both programs will swap media files including .veg files. 😉

Ok. Typeing .veg didn’t help but I figured out that vegas likes to start the your search where you are unlike most other programs that start at the beginning. Found the all files list. Thanks.
