  • Replacing clips in sequence with re-compressed ones

    Hey guys,

During my editing I have found out that it is in my best interest to edit natively in Pro Res 4444, however I have already edited some clips in XDCAM in the sequence. I used the media manager to convert all my clips in the browser to Pro Res but am now stuck with the clips already in the sequence. Is there an easy way to make the edit/clips in the sequence use the Pro Res clips instead of the original XDCAM clips, besides just overwriting the current clips (this does not keep transitions etc.)

    Thanks heaps!

The clips that have been converted to ProRes….give them the EXACT same name the XDCam Clips have. Then MOVE, not delete, the XDam clips from your media array and put the ProRes clips in their place.

That should get FCP to see them as ProRes. If not, you can highlight the clips in your sequence, right-click, reconnect media, and connect them to the ProRes clips.
