  • Replacing audio for video already in timeline

    HI,

I’m a sound designer [hence why I don’t know how to do this:)] and I’m putting together a short demo reel to shop.
So, in Final Cut, I’ve taken all my edits for this short film I did and put them into the timeline. THEN I realized that the video I edited had the original location sound from production, and not the audio from all the post I did, which is a separate stereo AIFF file, not a Movie.
Is it possible to replace only the audio in those edits if video is already in the timeline? Maintaining all timecode locations and stuff of course. Like a reconnect media or something only for audio? Help!

    Thanks in advance guys 🙂

Sure, just put it over the other audio in the timeline using an overwrite edit. If the source clip with the audio you want to put in has video too, disconnect the video’s target button in the left side of the timeline.

    Hi,
I have a question related to this one.
I have to make two versions of a short film (using final cut pro). It’s somebody giving a presentation. I’ve keyed out the greenscreen and put different layers with moving pictures (stills given a motion action).
I have to make two versions with different pictures but with the same actions in the motion tab.
I’ve tried using the overwrite mode but the picture always is overwritten in the beginning of the timeline.
I can not replace the pictures by giving them the same name because I have to preserve the other version as well.

Is there an easy way of replacing the pictures and keeping the motions without altering the original version?

    Thanks in advance.
    Anne-Marie
