Activity Forums VEGAS Pro replacing audio files

  • replacing audio files

I have about 20 avi clips that I have edited together and put on my Vegas timeline. Some of the orginal avi files might be 20 seconds long and I am only using 5 seconds 20 frames of that clip.

I also gave my friend the orginial avi files to sweetened the audio with. In total it was about 50 gigs of footage.

What he’s done is given me wav files of the new audio. What I would like to do is replace each clip with the new audio, easily.

What I thought I would do is to open a new project, open each avi file, delete the old audio, put in the new audio and then render it as a avi files with the same name as the orginal. That way it would show up on my edited Project on the time line, now with the new audio. However Vegas does not like that I am giving a file the same name (as a file that is in use). Is there an easier way that I haven’t thought of?

    Thanks for your help. James

PS On another NLE I just highlight the audio and say replace and it is done…

What is the reason that you need to have the avis with the new audio embedded as opposed to having them together on the timeline?

I was trying to get a quick way for the new audio to match the video. For instance if I have a clip that is 1 minute 20 seconds long and I am only using 15 seconds, finding the location of the audio and getting it to sync up exactly could take quite a bit of time in itself. That why I was thinking about rendering the new avi file.

    Thanks, james

You could drag out the in point to the start of the media, then add the wav file to the audio as a Take, then drag it all together to the in point you want.
