  • Replacing a photo in a comp without redoing attributes?

I have a “3-D” animation in AE of a group of pictures that spin around a central point. I would like to make this animation somewhat of a preset. Something which I can quickly change the photos in the future. What is the best way of going about this? I was thinking of replacing the original photos on the hard drive with a different photo and keeping the file name. Is this possible?

select the layer in the timeline, then select the new picture in the project and hold down ALT while dragging it onto the layer to replace it.

…follow the steps as mentioned in the previous post.Instead of dragging the new clip, you could just hit CTRL+ALT+\

If you are using Windows version 6.5, and you prefer a “mousey” approach you can do this:

In the Comp window Right Click the original photo to reveal the context sensitive menu and choose “Replace Footage –> File …”

It’s great to have multiple paths to the same end.
