  • Replacing A Curved Screen On Moving Shot

    Hi guys,

    Stuck in some sort of dilemma and I’m trying to figure out the best workflow.

    I need to replace what’s inside this monitor:

    style=”width:100%;height:0px;position:relative;padding-bottom:56.206%;”>

    So the first query is related to clean what’s currently in there…after Warp Stabilizing the shot I think I will get it done with the 3D Camera Track, that should be efficient.
    The main problem now is, because the monitor is curved and also in perspective how do I make my ‘replacement video’ the same shape as that monitor?

    I’m trying to keep it into AE as I’m not very familiar with C4D.

    Any thoughts would be really appreciated….

    The “correct” way is to build a piece of 3D geometry in an app like C4D, texture it with your content, and place it in the correct point in 3D space.

    If you have Mettle FreeForm Ae, you could use that.

    You could probably fake it easily enough in 2D with a distortion effect like Bezier Warp or Mesh Warp.

    Had to do this years ago.
    Just warp the areas that need the look.
    Then crop the screen.
    I’ve had luck with moving shots but of course easier with static.
