April 18, 2013 at 2:26 pmJust try it. Plug your monitor into the GTX285, use already debayered clips at the resolution you plan to work on (to ‘simulate’ the RR) and give is a try.

Just tried that with Alexa PR footage and a few nodes with blur and NR. Playback dropped from 7.5-8fps with the 120 down to 6.5-7fps with the 285 for both UI and GPU.
I can live with that.

April 23, 2013 at 5:59 pmWith 10.8.3 we see more of a jump from RAM than the GT120. Jumping from 16GB to 48GB increased playback by .5FPS to nearly 2FPS depending on Blur nodes. Our low end 570 machines now get realtime with 8 blur nodes (as single GPU/GUI). Highly recommend dumping that money on RAM and disk speed vs another GT120. Unless you need the boot screen.
