Ok, i’ve been playing about with the ‘replace with after effects composition’ in Ppro and I’m fine with how it opens a new AE project and lets you work within AE on the selected clip.

What I DON’T get is, when you’re finished working in AE how do you tell Ppro that you’re finished and that you want to go back to Ppro. Do you simply just save you’re project, close it and carry on working in Ppro?

I keep getting bugs where when I return to premiere the video isn’t working or its playing back really slowly even after rendering and I think that is because I’m not closing the AE composition properly.

    Any help is much appreciated.

Yep. Basically it’s supposed to be dynamically linked. When you go back to PPro, it’s supposed to see what you’ve done in AE.

RAM rendering in AE Prior to switching back to PPro is helpful.

You will need to render in PPro, rendering a file from AE is not a necessity. However Sometimes I will send the files to the comp fro PPro, but render a file from AE and bring it back to PPro manually, just because it handles better on the timeline.

Word of advice, there is no “UN-Replace AE Comp” So it’s good practice to start sending comps to AE from a duplicate version of your sequence just in case you need to go back for some reason.
