  • Replace sequence clip’s A1 channel with source clip’s A2?

Posted by Raven Plenty on November 19, 2008 at 2:28 am

I have deleted A2 audio channel from my sequence leaving only A1. After doing some editing I’ve realized I should have kept A2, not A1. Is there a way to relink the sequence clips’ A1 audio to the source clips’ A2 audio?

(A1 is built-in camera mic to capture ambient sound, A2 is a wireless mic feed.)

I realized I probably should have just kept both channels in the sequence and turned the volume down on the one I didn’t want to hear, but hey. Learning is fun. So..?

You have to match frame back to your clip from the timeline (select clip and hit f) and then edit in A2. In the future, simply deselect the track you don’t want by turning it off. You do this by hitting the little green dot that has a speaker on it for whatever track you want, in your case it’s A1, on the far left of the timeline. This will mute the entire track and you won’t have to level down all of the A1 clips.

    Make sense?

Thanks for the Match Frame tip Jeremy. The part I couldn’t figure out is how to edit A2 back on to the timeline. In theory I won’t need to do this anymore because I agree with your suggested workflow, but I am a curious guy.
