Replace image with another, keep position?

I have a few shapes I’ve created and am using them as marks for where I’ll need to cut once printed, but I have about 300 images to put (in pairs) and align with these marks.
When I drag the new image into the file, it is centered on the canvas, so I’m having to manually scoot them over one way or the other. Is there a way to, when importing a photo, make it automatically be placed in the same spot as another layer?
I’m printing book pages, so the positioning is very important.
InDesign doesn’t have the dimensions of the book, otherwise I’d use that.
I just don’t want to have to do this repetitive, tedious action 600 times.
