  • Replace existing comp in sequence with new after effects comp

    Hello.

I’ve placed a placeholder AE comp into a Premiere sequence via a dynamic link:

File > Adobe Dynamic Link > Import After Effects Composition

The link points to the comp in an AE file, let’s call it “A”. This placeholder comp appears in several locations in the premiere sequence.

After making some edits in AE, I’ve saved a new version of the AE file called “B”. I want to update the AE comp in Premiere with the new comp that lives in file “B” while leaving everything in place in the sequence. In other words I want to replace the existing comps with a new comp without having to repeat all the steps that I did to get the placeholder comp in the sequence.

Is there an easy way to go about this? I don’t see any options in the project bin.

Do I need to go offline, and relink?

Please let me know if you’d like more info.

    Thanks.

    Alright, got it sorted.

    For anyone who’s interested:

    1. Right click on the AE comp in the project bin.
    2. Choose Go Offline
    3. Right click on the AE comp in the project bin.
    4. Choose Relink Meida
    5. Browse to the new AE file where the new comp lives.

You can also import the comp into premiere, select it in the bin, and replace the original from the new Bin clip.
