Replace edit with sync issues
We are using footage captured from hdcam tapes (ProRes 422) and syncing it with audio WAV files. Because the audio files are longer on both ends than the video the merged clip has black with audio at the end an begining. This is not a problem when editing, but becomes when when trying to replace edit.
The editor puts the cursor in the viewer were he wants the edit and then in the timeline he puts the cursor were he wants and then tries to do a replace edit. When using a clip that has been merged it does one of two things or both; It puts the clip in, but the clip is several seconds off of were it should be or the sound becomes out of sync from the video.
If we make a supclip of the file we can use the replace edit function fine. The only reason that we do not want to do this to every clip is because we have several thousand and the editor has already used many of them so we can’t mess with some of them.
I know it’s a long shot, but if there is a way to modify the clip without changing the timecode it would help us out greatly (the video timecode is what final cut is using and it matches our burn in perfectly).
Our project is 23.976 Psf, and we are using Final Cut Pro 6.0.6.
Thanks in advance.
