Replace Clip – unequal number of shots – same TC
Hi there,
I am hitting a wall here replacing a long video clip with a new version of it.
What happened is that the editor forgot to turn of his color FXs and i just received a new version of a 44min file, same edits points but different looks.
I made an EDL through Scene detection and conformed the long file with it.
So the question is, is there an elegant way to swap the old file with the new file ?
My clean approach is to just make a new timeline using the EDL and the new video file and ColorTrace the grading and tracking and scaling I did.
The problem here is after scene detection i added more edit points so the number will not match.
My short cut approach is to rename the file in Finder and replace it on the browser level forcing Resolve to read from that.
What I am looking for is actually what I can not do according to this picture.
Select all clips in the Edit window, right click and “Force conform with selected clip in media pool”
That, in my world, would swap out the source media with the new file.

can you select the original clip in resolve and change the source folder?

Ah, not bad idea…
So having the same name for the new clip but a new source folder…
I’ll try that 🙂
In the example in the picture you can see they forgot to take off the Arri Lut from Avid, so thats why i thought i could just the version 02 and replace the parts i needed replaced..A slice of color…

Or you do i old fashion way.
You rename the old file something else and rename new file to the original.
Start up your resolve and it should be there.Both ways should work.
