  • Repair Lit / “Burnt” Pixel on SDX-900/HDX-900

    Hi,
I’ve got a Panasonic SDX and HDX900 here with lit pixels. I have tried black balancing 20+ times to no avail.
I can’t seem to find any kind of adjustment/correction for pixel mapping.
Does anyone have a quick suggestion or ideas to fix this?
    Thanks for any help.
    Regards,

There is a “service” menu in the HDX-900. It will allow you to zap the lit pixels with a crosshair.
I don’t have a camera or my notes with me at home (sorry) but when I get to work tomorrow I’ll check and re-post here.
Once you get into the service menu on the HDX you’ll find it…but I can’t remember the button combination to get in there.
Are you renting the camera? If so, ask them how to get into that (hidden) service menu.
Hopefully I’ll be able to help tomorrow.
    Cheers,

I should mention the “service” menu is the same as “engineering” menu.

Press “Light” and “Hold” and press “Menu” for the service/engineering menu.
Enter at your own risk….please. Tried to message you off the board, but couldn’t.
    Hope that helps.

I’ve found a fix for hot pixels on my HDX900 and i assume on my SDX900. i haven’t try the SDX yet.

To get into the service menu, press and hold the ‘ light button and the hold button ‘ on the side of the camera then push the menu button on the front of the camera (at the same time). Hold for a couple of seconds and the menu will appear. scroll to ‘ defect setting ‘ go into it, and then scroll to’ all data clear’. clear data, then exit menu. in my case a bunch of hot pixels appeared. Black balance ( it only took one for me ) and all the hot pixels cleared including the one i tried a hundred black balances on. Good luck…Daron
