I’m not sure if this is the correct place to post, so please bear with me..

I have a decent sized kit that I would like to offer for rent. In the past I’ve made up a simple agreement, taken a photocopy of the renter’s ID, and a bank check for the item’s value that I voided upon return.

But now this equipment value is much more than say, a camera, and I don’t know that having a check or piece of paper would give me a substantial protection against loss/damage.

That being said, how do people protect their equipment for rentals? are wet rentals the way to go?
do you just get production insurance and claim damage on their insurance if it happens?

thanks in advance for any guidance.
