  • Rendering with Sony AVC & M2ts format

So I am continuing my learning process with rendering HD video. I have been using SONY AVC to render and I find the clearity of the video is really good compared to saving it at a .WMV format.

Now the question lies when I render with SONY AVC it saves it in m2ts format. What can I use to convert it to another format like mpeg and will I loose quality of the video when doing so?

M2T and MPG files are both MPEG formats. There are numerous MPEG formats (flavors) from MP1 on up. M2T files are an Hi Def format for MPEG, there are various other HD formats that utilize different compression formats (AVI, WMV, etc). Best thing to do is to stay in your native format (or an intermediate format or same quality)until you choose to render your final project. I myself use my native 1440x1080i format until I am done and then render to other formats as I need to for the project. This may be M2T, MPEG2 for DVD, MOV, AVI, MP4, WMV etc. Going from a non-native format to another format can give varying results. Best to research all the formats you may need to use and be familiar with rendering to them all. Hope this helps!
