What is the diference between rendering (i.e. “add to render cue” and rendering as QT) and going to File>Export>QuickTime Movie. having problems with “not enough memory to creat image buffer”, when i add the comp to the render cue, it gives me an error message (732_ _k requested, 731_ _k availiable – usually about 1hr40min in – around 60% done), when I export as QT, much shorter time and no crash. What is the difference between the two methods? Thought on how to kck the error message. i have 1024mb RAM, in the cache settings, the first percentage i have set to 250%, i have limited the RAM usage to 90% (the second percentage) and I have 6gb allocated as the scratch disk. I have also set the “Secret” option to purge the RAM every 5 frames (but what do the other 2 checkboxes mean?).

Question summary due to confusing paragraph… 🙂
    1. What is the difference between rendering and exporting?
    2. How can i fix the memory issue?
    3. What do the 2 check boxes in the “Secret” (holding down shift when you go to preferences and then going to the “Secret” tab)mean? I have no idea.

    any help would be great.
    Thanks

I have been dealing with this same problem over the past couple days. I am running AE 6.0 Standard with 512MB of RAM and a Pentium4 3.0Ghz. I happened accross a random thread that said if you uninstall QT 7 it might eliminate the problem. It worked for me, not sure why…I hope that the newer version of AE have resolved this….hope this helps you guys
