Rendering time?
Posted by Abram Siegel on December 17, 2012 at 10:57 pmExporting from .mp4 to .wmv. The video renders as expected, gets up to 100% exported and then sits at 100% for at least 20 minutes displaying the following: “Estimated time remaining 2023706815:00:15”
What does that mean and is there someway I can avoid it?
It has happened more than once and on different videos (always from mp4 to wmv though, don’t know if its related to that or not).
I’ve searched and couldn’t come up with anything in any forums.

December 17, 2012 at 11:02 pmYup, Ive seen the same thing, only it sat there for only about 1.5 minutes. I have no idea whats causing it either.

December 17, 2012 at 11:58 pmthats why I always use batch convertor based on ffmpeg such as filmtrik. You drop in files and FOLDERS!! and it automaticaly finds out all the media files and then you can assign which compression you’d like. ffmpeg has never failed until now.At least in my case 🙂

December 18, 2012 at 12:53 amActually I figured out today what caused it in my case. I had a VERY large AE dynamically linked project that was was the last thing on my PrP timeline. It just took a while to render as I exported the timeline. And in light of that, Im not to concerned about the strange display.

December 18, 2012 at 2:52 pmHmm. Nothing dynamically linked here. It’s a very basic project. It seems to be another way of premiere showing 00:00:00 left and still taking a long time to finish the export once the 100% mark is reached. Different digits, same result.
Thanks all.

December 18, 2012 at 11:31 pmYou can also try encoding through Adobe Media Encoder. It supports batch encode, multiple presets, etc.

December 23, 2012 at 6:30 pmDennis, this is off topic but can you tell me if it is in fact true that Adobe will do a free platform switch for CS6, from Mac to Windows verison? I’m only seeing the upgrade price as an option on the Adobe website. Thanks.

Hi Brian. You can switch platforms when upgrading at no extra cost. It does require a call to customer service in order to make it happen, but it’s not too troublesome. I don’t know that you can switch from one platform to another without upgrading though – If you are CS6 on Mac and want to go to CS6 on PC, I’m not sure how you would do that. I would say call customer service.
Hope this helps,
