    Hey,

It really depends on how complex your composition is. For instance, I’ve found that when you have compositions within compositions with several effects, layers and masks then the rendering time is immense! (I’m talking overnight for a 3-4 minute complex animation… Though I do have an old imac and an older version of After Effects).

I think if you have a computer with a decent processor and RAM then your render times will definitely be shorter.

Hope that helps with your survey.

This is a difficult question to answer because what effects you are rendering will have a huge impact on performance.

Other factors aside from the computer itself include RAM & hard disk speed and configuration.

I think Total Training has a benchmark project for After Effects, so you can measure the speed of different computers rendering the same project. You might be able to find the information you’re looking for that way.
