    Hi,
I did a search on this and while I found related questions I didn’t find the specif answer. Apologies if it’s been dealt with before. I have Vegas Pro 8 and when I go to render a project (it doesn’t matter the format, it happens on Quicktime, mpeg2, etc), 50% of the time the rendering stalls out and I have to Crt/Alt/Del. I don’t need to say what that does to both the project and my nerves. I go over the projects with a fine tooth comb and am not finding any gaps, lost media links or extraneous media on my time line. I’ll go back and try the render several more times and finally it works. I’ve plenty of memory. Any thoughts or perhaps someone can point me toward the appropriate thread.
    Thanks in advance,
    Sprague

    Hi John,
Thanks for getting back to me. The box is about 3 months old (new box/program) and not a bunny to be found.

I really hate when things like those occurs Sprague….where
you cannot come up with a solution, its frustrating, and
surprisingly tomorrow you will get up and everything is running and rendering with ease. Seen it so many times.

Tell you what…Make sure the time and date on your system is accurate,
then, defragment your hard drive…and then go to
    C:Program Files-Sony Setup-Vegas Pro 8.0 and press vegas80_enu
to carry out maintenance on vegas and see if this helps. The entire process wont take long. Let me know.

    Hi Steve,
Thanks for the tips! I quit for the day but before I left did defrag the hard drives. I’ll go back and try the other two steps tomorrow. Thanks again.

If you do the vegas80_enu.msi will you loose all the plug-ins and prsets? I’m in the middle of editing a feature and can’t risk messing everything up! But Vegas is constantly crashing on me and this is a new fix I have not yet tried.

No it wont mess anything up..it basically just carries out maintenance
to correct errors and maybe missing components.Thats all…
