Rendering speed with AMD 390X on Vegas Pro 12/13?
Thus far I have been rendering 1080p30/60 videos using my Intel i7 CPU and it’s tedious. I currently have NVIDIA 780 card and rendering with that is no noticeably faster than CPU. I saw a small benchmark, which listed AMD 290X as the fastest rendering GPU on Vegas Pro 12, and some people here also confirmed the fast renderings with this card.
Now I have possibility to buy and replace the CPU as renderer with either 290X or the new 390X around the same price.
Does anyone know if 390X provides same rendering speed in Vegas Pro 12 as 290X or maybe even faster?

CPU Power is what really pushes Vegas’s rendering speed without the hiccups!

I would imagine that the 390x would be even better than the 290x based on specs. If the price is about the same go for the newer card. Vegas Pro uses OpenCL so it should take full advantage of all that the newer card has to offer.

One model of 390X is actually cheaper than the old 290X! lol.
Anyway, I guess I’ll go with the new model as planned. Thank you for the input!
EDIT: With closer inspection it looks like 390X is simply same exact card as 290X, with the exception of 8GB memory and slightly higher clocking.

The long time pattern in computing is more capability at a lower cost. It sounds like this card is an example of that.
