Hello everyone hope you’re well, my desktop PC is quite powerful and I was hoping to use the full performance of the PC.

My desktop PC has the following spec:-
    Intel Core i7 4770k @ 3.50GHz
    16GB DDR3
    3GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX780 GPU

When I open “Task Manager” I can see my CPU is being used to its full potential, always hitting above 87%. But the memory always stays around 8.60GB. I have 16GB RAM installed how come the remaining GB’s are not being used?

    Thanks

Because the software is using the memory it needs to accomplish the task complexity given.

That’s not how computers work. They’re not going to use all available memory just because it’s there. Just like your CPU and GPU aren’t going to run at 100% all the time. It only uses what is needed.

No matter how much GB’s of memory you have crammed in your system,
Vegas will not be able to make full use of it.
The processor is what makes you see a difference when editing in Vegas.

Hello everyone, thanks for your response. Looks like Sony Vegas will only use what ever memory is required, it’s a shame as over 1/3 of RAM will not be used.

Can someone please check if I have selected the best possible settings:-

GPU acceleration:- Enabled (NVIDIA GeForce GTX780)
Maximum number of rendering threads:- 16
Dynamic RAM preview:- 2000MB Max availble: 15298 MB

Should I increase the number of GB’s for RAM preview?

Yes you can increase the Dynamic Ram Preview amount, but remember this
only extends the length of the ram preview on the timeline.

Thanks everyone for your response. Looks like majority of the members have mentioned the software will only use what’s required by the software. It’s a shame as I was hoping to tweek the settings for faster rendering time.
