    Does rendering speed (e.g. create a .avi file out of an edited footage on the timeline) depend on the disk drive performance? Are two physical drives needed? Thanks for any comments.

    Rendering is basically CPU horsepower, Usually if the drive is good enough to capture with, there is no problem rendering, At least 2 drives, primary drive for the OS and APPs and at least one other drive for video files, a third drive is recomended for Premiere, for preview files, sound clips, cache for DVD construction, and other misc files.

    Thanks Blast. I have two drives, but one of them is a USB2 external drive. It get about 30 MB/sec, maybe OK, but also 16% CPU power is taken up for managing the USB transfer. Should I get a second (SATA) drive instead?
