    hi,

i am a regular visitor to your wonderful forum for a long time

many of my questions i have regarding video edit have been answered through your forum although please let me ask something about windows media video rendering

i have to edit and render some candid videos and i wish to know if my rendering settings are ok

the only reason that i prefer to render those videos to windows media video is because is take a short time for the rendering to be finished and the final rendered video is under 150 mb in size

unfortunately, i am working with an old dekstop pc (fujitsu core 2 duo cpu intel e7200 with a limited ram of 6 gb ddr2 800)

My main pc a four core amd cpu have been broken so i have to build soon a new one but for the time being i have to finish my renderings on that old fujitsu pc…

    here is my rendering settings

720p x 1280, cbr 6 mbps for video, audio @ 192 kbps @ 48 khz cbr for audio, video rendering quality use project settings (best setting does not give any better quaslity)

all the videos were recorded by a lumia 650 mobile windows phone

    vegas pro 13

I used to render everyone of my Sony Vegas videos to WMV format as well for that very reason, it consumes a lot less space on your computer compared to MP4 or MOV from my knowledge. WMV format is what I used on older computers I used to have for editing videos in Sony Vegas back in the day. I used to render these WMV files to 480p instead of 720p back then. And at least your computer has 6GB of RAM, I used to render Vegas videos with even less RAM than that so it should work on your end for 720p. At least its decent for the old computer you have to use for now. What happened to your other computer that broke if I may ask?

    hi dear vera,

i thank you so much for your kind reply

i have tried some different settings for my candid videos and it seems that the follow settings work pretty good on my pc…

windows media video – video bitrate 12 M cbr (two pass)

    audio @ 192 kbps 48 khz

project settings – render quality best

    dynamic ram – 25% (i have 6 gb of ram ddr2 800)

    no preview

i am happy with the results, good video quality and small video size

my amd athlon a6 3650 was a decent computer but unfortunately the motherboard, an asrock a55 avs was so good

after two years of use the motherboard couldn’t see the ram

i kept the cpu and i bought another motherboard so i have to build again my very trusty amd a6 dekstop

    thanks

Thats good to hear that your settings was good enough for you to be able to do your project. And what do you mean by “No preview”, your preview on Sony Vegas is like showing blank or black screen and cannot see whats going on? If that happening to your current old computer that you are using now or the new one you were building?

    hi dear vera,

just to clear it out… preview off is only for the rendering process… since it give me some shorten rendering times

soon i hope i will build my new pc

    thanks

Ohh I see so in other words, while you are rendering a video in Vegas Pro, it just does not show the preview so you can see the progress on how its rendering right? Yeah it could be as you say that hardware limitation from the computer you are currently using to render the video. Once you upgrade it, it should be working again.

If anything else is the issue, try checking this video out to see if it helps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0lrFF6aogeg Good luck and hope it works one way or another.
