  • “Rendering required files” is annoying, how to avoid this?

I can get into a state where it seems every time I play back on a sequence, I’ll get the ‘rendering required files’. It does this quickly but it’s happening a lot. If I restart PPro or do a cocktail clean system cache and reboot and restart PPro, I don’t get this message as often.

Some facts: I’m now using a multi-camera nested sequence, and 3 different file formats, over an hour long, it’s not a ‘strain free’ sequence. I’ve also set the sequence settings “Desktop” and preview files to to Prores LT as a ‘test’ of these settings.

I know I’m not fully understanding rendering in PPro yet. I do know that yellow means that renders are not required for playback, and currently I’m all yellow, but this should mean I should never get the “rendering required files’ because supposedly rendering isn’t required, right? Maybe not.

Where are these files referred to in this message stored, how do I find out what is causing this, can I ‘pre render’ so this doesn’t keep happening?

    Thanks much for any advice.
