    Hey All,

Got a quick question. I’m trying to do a quicktime conversion of my edited film in FCP HD (Dual 2ghz G5, 512 ram). The timeline settings are set to RT unlimited, High quality playback and Full quality record to tape. I have all the elements rendered.

My problem is with the fcp generated text elements I have for my opening credits, they have fade-in and out transitions on them. For some reason, during the fade-in transition, the text looks lower res and then “pops” to a higher res when the transition ends and the text is playing out. The text elements I’m using are both overlays over video and over black. This problem remains when I do a quicktime conversion of the sequence. I haven’t checked whether it does it in print to video, but I need to be able to do the conversion since I need a compressed file. (Compressor is not functional at the moment). Any help is very much appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Trevor

Check your render settings. Make sure they’re set correctly and at the best quality.

    All the best,

Set the dark green “FULL” bars then re-render.
You also want to be in SAFE RT in the RT pop up menu.

Okay so I set it to RT Safe, and checked Full on the Render All settings and it worked for one of the clips, the one thats an overlay over video. On the first text clip, I was able to fix the fade out, but the fade in for some reason I can’t get to work, and I still can’t figure out why the first ones worked. I’ve never had to play around with rendering so much. Also, I noticed on the first text clip that I can’t get to work, when I deleted the fade in, I noticed the video still has an unrendered look and then switches to the sharper look. I think there’s some setting I’m missing for how to set it so I don’t have to keep telling it to render at full, or some consistent process, cuz right now I’m trying a combination of things just to get it to render properly.

    Thanks in advance!

To follow up to what Kevin says, go into ‘sequence > render selection’ menu and make sure that ‘full’ is checked. Please do the same for ‘sequence > render all’. Then you need need to hit option-r (or render all) and render all of your clips. What resolution are you working in? If you are working in DV, make sure that in your motion tab for the titles that the Y value of the center position is on an even and whole number. If your center value looks something like 2,128.1, change it to 2,128. Fix that, rerender and post back.
