Can someone HELP??? I’ve been having trouble with rendering vegas. I have spent about 3 hours on the phone with vegas tech support so I have tried alot of different things. Uninstall, reinstall, shut down backround processes, pretty much everything you can do, and I still get the same problems. Sometimes I get a hard shut down of the entire cpu, or I will get the error message UNKOWN ERROR has occured. Then more recently I have been getting the error listed below. I have also been getting a message when I turn vegas on saying ” Themssql$sony_med1amgr service does not exist or the current account does not have enough privalge to manage it.” I have a good computer so you think pentium 4 3.40ghz and 2 gigs of ram and an external hard drive with a lot of extra memory. So can anyone help !!!!

this is the error I mentioned earlier.

    Better/more ventilation.
    Lower ambient temperature.

The Media Manager problem is, I think, related to the version you are using (7.0c). 7.0d is available for download and fixes a number of bugs. 7.0e is also available, but I’ve heard some folks are having problems with it.

The halts while rendering might indeed be heat-related. If you have a little utility that can report the CPU and motherboard temperatures, run it while you’re rendering. If the temps go up to 60 C or more, you should think about getting more or better cooling fans. Also, if you haven’t blown the dust out of your machine in a while, do so.

Are you using an external drive as a video source or render destination? USB or Firewire interfaces can present a data bottleneck and a crash. Your drives, whether internal or external, should use SATA or SCSI interfaces.

Is your machine optimized for video editing? Running a lot of processes or background applications can use up resources. There’s a couple of good articles on Windows tweaks and streamlining available through Gary Bettan’s site, https://www.videoguys.com

Well, still having the same problems. I have noticed another bizarre thing. When I render a video in quicktime the file size is huge. A 20 sec clip will be like 1 gig. A 42 sec file rendered as a windows media file is like 14.5 mb. This might be my problem. How do I compress them down without losing quality. I should be able to render in the highest setting without having such huge file sizes correct?
