  • rendering problem – frames freezing

    Hi,

I have some quicktime clips at 720×576, 25fps that seem to have no format when checked in either quicktime or FCP. I am importing them into FCP 6.0.1 into an uncompressed 8 bit timeline, where they play fine. When I correct the aspect ratio, once rendered they seem to suddenly have a single freeze frames in them at random points. As these clips are of motion control packshots its obviously really not good. I have tried matching my sequence settings (field orders, compression, rendering settings ect) and still it dosen’t work. Interestingly, whilst they play fine in quicktime and in their raw state, even just importing them into AE and stepping throught the frames seems to make them appear. I have also tried exporting them from quicktime in different compressions to see if that would solve my problem, but to no avail.

Does anyone know where I could be going wrong?

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

    JM

[northern] “hat seem to have no format when checked in either quicktime or FCP”

What do you mean by this? How were they originally recorded?

    Hi

    Thanks for your reply…..

When I check the properties in quicktime the video track is Apple ProIO vout ARGB imdc.

When I take the clip into FCP and check the item properties the compression reads as ‘none’.
The field dominance is set to upper……

Still unable to fix this problem! 🙁

    thanks

    JM

[northern] “Apple ProIO vout ARGB imdc.”

Hmm, I have no idea what that is. You said you tried to render to another codec, correct?

Why do you have to correct the aspect ratio?
