Rendering Problem

Hi, newbie here.
I’m using Vegas Movie Studio HD 11.0 to edit a few internet videos produced by my church for a local program.
The videos are

23.976 fps
.mp4
1280×640 AVC
44,100 Hz AAC
disabled resample
progressive scan

I’ve tried to match everything in the rendering process, but it seems like any rendering template I use gets me more or less the same result: Audio’s fine, but the video digresses every few seconds to be more and more grainy. Then it returns all of a sudden to better quality and then slowly digresses again. I’ve looked through countless other threads and couldn’t come up with any solutions so far.

is it the software I’m using?

What is your target framerate? If it is 30 (29.97) then you probably want to resample. It’s going to have to create those extra frames somehow. If your outputting 24 fps (23.976) then tell us which template your using.

I want to put it on a dvd, so I’ve tried the following templates:

DVD Architect NTSC video stream
DVD Architect NTSC Widescreen video stream
DVD Architect 24p NTSC video stream
DVD Architect 24p NTSC Widescreen video stream

HDV 1080-24p

AVCHD 1920×1080-60i

and others, but it seems like the same problem persists with all of them in varying degrees of nastiness.

That’s got me stumped. I don’t have bad renders like you describe.

Have you ever installed a codec pack? These are nasty pieces of software that often overwrite your paid for codec with a free or hacked version. Cleanup is tough, see some of the posts here if you need help along these lines. One of the worst is k-lite.
