I have a whole project ready to render, but right now I would like to just render the end of the project, meaning the credits only. How can I just render the credits now.

Highlight just that section and make sure to select “render loop region only”.

Thanks Mike, and to cancel that loop region I have to do what?

Oh, other question was should I render to avi or mpeg2. I thought that I read somewhere that if you re-render mpeg2 a second time you may lose some quality. Once project is done, I will put into Adobe Encore DVD. So when I render project, should I save as avi, and let Encore encode the project, or go ahead and render as mpeg2 anyway. I usually go ahead and render in mpeg2, then load into Encore.

Just make sure not to select “render loop region only” the next time you render.
This feature can be turned off if you want to.
Options – Prefs – Editing – deselect “Collapse loop region when no time selection is present”.

Steve, I use DVD Architect to do all my DVD Authoring and I always give it fully compliant MPEG-2 and AC-3 streams.
I have no idea what the requirements are for Encore so I won’t bother suggesting something that might be incorrect.
