rendering NON-DV videos
need help here.. I have several videos that were originally converted to .wmv at a frame size of 320 x 240. I re-converted those videos to .avi so I could import into premier to combine them with some other footage, edit and enhance.. Now im trying to export them to one video file at 320 x 240.. However, I cannot produce a video at that size. The reason being seems to be that I can’t change my general editing settings from DV so everytime I import a video smaller than 720 x 480 my exported video always has a black border around it, the space left over where a 720 x 480 video would have filled. How can I change my general editing settings so when I import a non full dv video into the timeline, I dont get that extra black space? The dv settings are always greyed out and I have no other options. I could be wrong in thinking that its my general editing settings but even when I try to use a microsoft avi codec that allows a 320 x 240 output the entire 720 * 480 black space surrouding the video remains and converts proportionately as part of the video to 320 x 240 with the actual video itself being a much smaller size.. Any suggestions?
Also, is there any literature on the different codecs in premier and how I can figure out which one would best serve my purpose as far as quality and file size go?
