August 9, 2008 at 3:42 pmI don’t think I follow you. How did you re-render the original files if they are not on your computer? VirtualDub doesn’t “use” files. It makes “copies” of them in a different format. The end result is two (2) files.
What you should do is open the original file in VirtualDub and save as another filename. Now you should have two copies of the same file. One as the original name and one as the new name. That’s what you need to do. Then check the newname file and make sure it doesn’t have a 4CC of DivX (it should be DIB) and that it is much, much, larger in size than the original. This will tell you that you successfully converted the file to uncompressed.

August 9, 2008 at 4:06 pmNow I see what I did wrong! I saved them over the original file, but that didn’t seem to work. Now I’m saving the files to a new folder (for the time being) and they are coming out uncompressed because I checked the video properties.
Now when I am finished doing that to all of my clips I move the uncompressed avi files into the folder that I took them out of so that Sony Vegas can properly read the files in the project timeline, correct?

Correct! So if you are using a separate folder, just keep the same filename. Then move the uncompressed files back to where Vegas expected them and it will use them instead of the DivX files. this should make it all work.

August 9, 2008 at 5:29 pmI just rendered it and some of the clips didn’t jerk. I went back and noticed that some of my uncompressed files ended up in my first or second folder so I went back and forth fixing everything and now I’m rendering it again. This time everything in the video should work. THANK GOD–and most importantly thanks for your help and everyone else’s within this thread. I never had so much video drama in my entire life.

August 9, 2008 at 5:55 pmYou’re very welcome and I hope it renders correctly this time.
More importantly, you need to find a workflow for future projects. Rendering uncompressed is OK for small files but for larger projects, a format like DV, MJPEG, or HUFFYUV might be a better choice. But we’ll worry about that after you get this project to work. 😉

August 9, 2008 at 6:15 pmI know when I first started making videos I did the whole codec/format thing, but I only made fan-videos at the time so I would use DVDshrink and I would save the vob files from the DVD and then create a video. Nero and Sony Vegas had no problem using the files, but now with my own footage I see how I need to have a step process again just because of the all the problems this video gave me.
