  • Rendering needed w/o any FX added?

I’ve just started a new project, imported some DV 16:9 footage from a Sony HVR-A1E (new to me, sound at 32 KHz)

When I put any clip in the timeline there’s this red line over the timeline, the length of the whole clip, which I know means you need to render video, but I can’t see what makes these clips need rendering. (no filters etc., fresh import as said)
Obviously I cannot playback (let alone edit) without rendering first, which is quite cumbersome.

Anyone know how to fix this?
    thnx, Vincent

Make sure your footage formats and your sequence settings match

[Vincent Geijsel] “Anyone know how to fix this?”

Your Sequence Settings don’t match your Clip Settings.

Here’s a tutorial I just completed that covers this very topic.

Also, 32khz audio will not play back in realtime in FCP, you want your audio to be 48khz.

    Thanks Walter,

I see my reply to Richards post didn’t get through… (yet?)
I think I did get the settings right before, upgrading from FCP 5.0 to 5.0.4 solved the problem.

I seem to get realtime audio playback at 32 khz just fine, it just took me a while to figure how to set it. (in both the sequence and capture settings panes)
Anyway I’ll just have to live with that 32 khz audio, that’s how it was delivered to me…

Will look into those tutorials, thanks a lot!

Hey Walter, thanks for this, its cleared up a little headache for me! 🙂 Perfect for solving a problem when I don’t have time to be searching for the solution.
