rendering large hd files

Ive been reading a lot of threads in this forum, but cant find the answer to a problem I wish I didnt have.
I was asked to film a Masedonian wedding, 12 hours with 2 HD cameras.
They requested that all dancing should be on the DVD.
As it was my first Masedonian wedding, I agreed with no problems.
I didnt expect them to dance all day, 4.5 Hours of dancing alone.
Ive talked them into letting me put the wedding on one dvd as I normally would. That is no problem to me.
Can anyone help me to get this 4.5 hrs on either 1 or 2 dvds whether in HD or dv
As a Mt2 file in HD its 33.8 gig.
I use sony vegas 8 pro and dvd arch.
Have I agreed to something I cant deliver?

For 4.5 hr., you’ll have to put this on 2 DVDs.
Set your timeline to match your source project properties (HD) but render it out using the SD DVD Architect NTSC (or PAL) video stream or the DVD Architect NTSC Widescreen video stream template.
Now click the Custom button and then the Video tab.
Customize the bitrate using the following VBR setting:
Max: 7,080,000
Avg: 4,048,000
Min: 2,424,000
Because the video is so long, I strongly recommend using the 2-pass option.
Save this as a preset for disc #2.
These numbers will let you fit 2 hr. 15 min. of SD video on one single-layer DVD. -
You could also burn it to one dual-layer DVD instead of two single-layer DVD’s. That might be better for them. Then they will have one DVD of the wedding and one DL-DVD of 4.5 hrs of dancing.

Hi all
Thanks Mike and john for helping me out.
Ill certainly try your suggestions.
I will try putting on 2 dvd’s with the settings Mike suggests first.
I had already bought duel layer dvd’s (I have never used them before)
but Ive heard many times that many dvd players dont recognise duel layer. That will possibly be my last resort.
Thankyou so much, I cant wait to give it ago.
My clients cant wait to get it
