Rendering just renders audio!
Hello,
I put an mp4 with just video and a .wav file into Vegas 9.0 in order to dub the audio with the video. And now, in the preview it looks fine, BUT I can’t figure out how to save (render)(export) (etc.) the result. If I try and render it just wants to render the audio. Choices are e.g. WM Audio or .wav or other audio formats — no choice is a video format.
I am an inexperienced Vegas user so I understand that the answer might be obvious.
Any thoughts appreciated!

File, render as, save as type, select a video type, like WMV and see what happens, Hope this helps, Danny Hays

There are no video formats listed, just audio.

That’s strange. What version of Vegas 9.0 are you using? If it’s Vegas Pro, start a new project, add one empty video and audio track and select File | Render As. You should see all of the video and audio templates. if you don’t, something is wrong with your installation.

OK, we’ve moved on to other problems (same project) — NOW:
I kept crashing my OS (XP) when trying to render, It’s just and MP4 with a wave file. After reading some of the discussions on this topic, I tried cutting the video in half and just rendering the first half (since the crash always happened in the second half.) However, the rendered video ended up as just the sound and no picture (in mp4 format.) Or maybe it was just a totally black picture. Did I do something wrong?

It’s just and MP4 with a wave file.
Where did the MP4 file come from? These can cause a lot of trouble when rendering. You might want to use a tool like AviDemux to convert it to an AVI file using the M-JPEG, Huffyuv or Lagarith codec and see if that helps.
