Rendering individual shots in Resolve 9
I have to render select shots (to send out for VFX) from 6 timelines. While on the render page I set the in and outpoints but when I click ‘start render’ the entire timeline starts rendering. What step am I missing?

Use the new marking system to filter those shots. Assign a “flag” to the shots you want to render and its pretty straightforward after that. Choose the “flagged” shots with the timeline filter and do a right click render all and do remember to choose to render as individual source clips.

I’m finding flags useless as they automatically group source media even if you are using multiple versions. remote versions that is. do flags only work properly with local versions?

Flags are associated with source clips. If you use the same source clip twice the same flag will identify the clip. Consider using markers as these are frame identifiers.

that would be great, but my markers are always grayed out. I’ve been too busy to chase that one down…
EDIT:
never mind, just tried it and noticed markers are desaturated in the gui – and only show up on timeline. wasn’t vey clear in documentation
