  • Rendering in 8 bit, but not 32 bit?

Posted by Jack Monkiewicz on May 14, 2011 at 3:41 am

    Hi,

I have encountered an issue with rendering yet again.

The project im working on wont render out in 32 bit floating, or full range, but will in 8 bit.

    my project settings are:

    HDV 1080 50i – 1440 1080, 25fps
full resolution rendering quality set to ‘good’

file type – MXF, with a few avi’s

    My PC specs are

    i7 930@2.80GHz
    12GB Ram
    64 bit system

is there any benefit for 32 floating/full range? is there a noticeable drop in quality?

Thank-you in advance for anyone’s help.

32-bit has to do with the arithmetic that is used to process colors internally by Vegas. Normally it is not need and 8-bit is more than adequate which is why it’s the default. I wouldn’t worry about it.

Thanks John, If the quality isn’t impeded noticeably i’ll stick with 8 bit. Thank you again.
