Hi, I have recently shot a short film on a HD camera (1080i) but have no idea how to export the HD footage from AE without loosing any quality but with the file being as small as possible. Can anyone help me? Sorry if this is a common question but i had a quick look in the FAQ section of the forums and couldn’t find anything to answer my Question.

Use the Render Queue, don’t Export.

Without losing quality, there is a limit on how small you can make the file. If you want to lose as little quality as possible, choose Quicktime Animation codec, or an “Uncompressed 8-bit” codec.

As you reduce the file size further, you lose more quality. It’s a tradeoff.

Now. Where is this footage going, to which application, for what eventual delivery format?

The footage is going into premier to be delivered in HD format.

Sorry, but “HD format” isn’t specific enough.

In addition to Dave’s questions, are you delivering to:

    HD-DVD? Blu-Ray?
    HDCAM tape?
Some other format? Please be specific.
