Rendering. From a previous post.
Posted by Rdub on July 10, 2009 at 9:12 pmGetting this error when rendering.
After Effects Error:PhotoShop file format error-out of memory
(-108)
(45:35)XP Pro with 4 gig ram.
Recognize this error?
Also, the render screen shows 12% of 3 GB Ram being used. Shouldn’t AE be utilizing more than 12% of RAM? I have 4 GB of ram.

July 10, 2009 at 10:02 pmAre you using a PSD file with a 3D object layer?
Have you updated to After Effects CS4 (9.0.2)? The 9.0.1 and 9.0.2 updates have addressed some erros that look like this.

July 10, 2009 at 10:29 pmIf nothing else works I may have to upgrade the computer. I can’t render for 20+ hours and then notice changes or continue to get errors. As a reminder, I have an XP Pro machine. 4 GB Ram. One internal drive and one External drive. Core 2 Quad CPU. Radeon HD 2600 Pro video card. If I was to build a PC for After Effects from the ground up what should I do differently.

July 10, 2009 at 11:19 pmNow that I have updated AE my render time is 30+ hours. How can anyone work with a render time like that?

July 11, 2009 at 5:11 amHow long is your composition in time?
What kind of material/operations do you have in your Comp? As Todd asked, are you using Photoshop 3D? If you use the highest rendering options, you can get some serious rendering time.
Don’t worry about the 12 per cent used of 2.0 GB used in the splash screen. That’s a message before the application is operational.
XP 32 is severely challenged in memory handling, and yes, because of this AE can’t take advantage of the 4 GB in your machine. If you have a multi-core computer, you may want to consider upgrading to Vista 64 (or wait for Win 7). If you have a dual core machine, 4 GB will be fine. If you have a quad core processor, you want more than that to take advantage of multiprocessing.

July 11, 2009 at 3:57 pmI’m using jpg images only. I guess I’m not familiar with PhotoShop 3D. Sorry. I have a core 2 quad processor. With XP Pro, how can I use more than 4 Gig of Ram?

July 11, 2009 at 4:55 pmThe comp consists of a 2D layer with Trapcode Particle and a source layer which is a comp of 300+ images. Also a camera for scanning from left to right.
