    Hey all,

    I have a comp setup using preset HDV 1080/29.97, width is 1440 x 1080, PAR is HDV1080 and Frame Rate is 29097. Resolution is “full.”

    It’s just a text effect.

    A few questions about rendering:

    I’ve tried to render this 2 second clip in all sorts of varieties, using a number of settings, including the “stretch” checkbox. Why is my final output clearly a 4:3 quicktime?

    My render settings:
    Quality = best
    resolution =full
    size 1440 x 1080
    Use OpenGL Renderer = checked (Open GL support)

    Time sampling, I’ve made no chages
    Frame Rate: Use Comp’s frame rate (29.97)

    OUTPUT MODULE SETTINGS

    Format = quick time movie
    video output > Format Options > Animation

    Stretch = unchecked, but “Lock Aspect ration to 4:3” is checked and grayed out. I’ve tried checking off “Stretch” and then unchecking the “Lock Aspect Ration to 4:3” but have gotten the same output in either case

    Crop is unchecked

    Audio output is unchecked as there is no audio.

    Where am I going wrong? I end up with a 4:3 movie no matter what I try. I need the footage to stay 16:9 so I can bring it into FCP, where all my footage is 16:9.

    Thank you. I hope this made sense.

    I think I figured it out.

    Let me guess: is 1440 x 1080 a 4:3 PAR?

    Ok, So I check off “stretch” in Output Module Settings, then change the width to 1920 and height to 1080, which gives me a checkbox that says “Lock Aspect Ratio to 16:9”

    How do I make that a “permanent” setting so it always outputs that way?

    Thanks, guys and dolls.

    Search the help for “templates”.

    1440 X 1080 is a 4 X 3 ratio of pixels. when you throw in the pixel ratio then you get 16 by 9 picture.

    If your ouptut or capture from final cut is 1440 X 1080, then your render from After effects should be the same size. fc should take care of the par.
