  “rendering Failed! File Could Not Be Created(Check Codec Settings And Locks/permissions)”

  Sup folks. I’m using r12 on 64 bit vista and have all the necessary codecs (xvid and h.264). I need to make a preview video of my animation, but I keep getting this error when I try hardware preview, both quicktime and avi: “Rendering failed! File could not be created(check codec settings and locks/permissions)”

  I’ve tried swapping the qtagent.exe with the demo’s version, downgrading to an older version of quicktime, and rewriting folder permissions in vista but no luck so far. When I try full render, the “calculating preview” message appears but never loads.
