I am putting together a training video for a company that sends me an outline of their items in a powerpoint presentation along with an audio clip. The challenge is syncing up the audio with the presentation (mostly just text and images). Currently I bring the audio into FCP and add markers then make titles with live type. I use the feature in live type where you can simply drag your livetype timeline into FCP. This is kind of a long process. The final file needs to be encoded in h.264 for the web generally they are 30-45 minutes long

Anyway my question is do you know of a better workflow for doing something like this?

My second question is should I render my files in FCP first before I send it to compressor (will this speed up the encoding process?)right now I have it rendering and it says that it will be done in 15 hours (I have a Apple G5 Quad 2.5 Ghz Power Mac with 4GB ram)!!

Thank you for any suggestions and help

The use of LT for type should be based on your need for effects. If you don’t need the whoopdeedoo effects, you’re wasting time in LT.

It's the frame rate and image size that impact your compression the most and you did not post those specs. bogiesan This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

Live type can have some horrific render times, last year i had a 3 minute long simple scrolling credits that someone else was doing in live type, said it was going to take well over 20 hours… then i used the normal FCP text crawl and it was only like 40 mins that was in HDV though
