Rendering a lengthy movie

What codec did you use? AVI is just a container that could have any codec. What was the original source? You should use a codec for your render that is at least as good as your source codec.

As for the DVD, you’ll need to render to MPEG2 and decrease the average bitrate from the default of 6,000 mbps to around 4,500 mbps. I would use the Two Pass option to get the best quality possible for that bitrate. You might also want to use a double layer DVD which would easily fit 2 hrs.

For AVI….
playing back files to see its true quality, i render out
as NTSC DV(AVI) to play back through my video camera from my desktop
to my television (broadcast monitor) for a true representation.

I now have yet another problem. I recently upgraded DVD Architect Studio, to DVD Architect Pro. When I go to burn a DVD in Vegas, it tells me that I don’t have Architect installed. Does Vegas not work with Pro? do I need to combine directories? Someone help. Thanks. -JB

If you have DVD Architect, You just need to render out your video from vegas to
the mpeg2 format using a DVD Architect video stream template
and your audio separately as Wave or AC3 format and giving
them both the same name.
Then you import them in Architect to start burning.

What version of Vegas do you have? Movie Studio? The Movie Studio version is not going to recognize the Pro version of DVD Architect. As Steve said you are going to have to manually render from Vegas and import into DVD Architect.

I re-installed the original Architect and it reads it now. After rendering my film for 24 hours, I sent it to architect only to be told that it doesn’t recognize the file format. I am using Vegas Platinum, and the file type is an MPEG just as it suggests. I know it is my inexperience I am sure, but between Vista being a pile of crap and this software incompatibility issue, I am ready to smash this PC to pieces. Why would Architect (after a 24 hour rendering) not recognize the damned files when I go to send them? Argh….

I had an irretrievable crash and had to re-customize all my stuff. I had both versions of the software and mistakenly tried the odd one first.

The extras that came with Vegas never got retrieved, and I cannot for the life of me find the master disc. Either way… thanks. -JB
