Rendering
Posted by Marc Lucas on July 22, 2014 at 2:39 pmI have a 50 frame render with GI and when I render the whole 50 frames at once I get black blotches in the render. However if I render the sequence 10 frames at a time it renders OK. Very confused.

July 22, 2014 at 2:51 pmNeed more information. What version of Cinema? Is the camera animated? Are objects other than the camera animated? What GI settings are you using? Standard render or physical?

July 22, 2014 at 2:57 pmMixture of Camera animation and animation of an object. C4D 14
Standard Renderer I have the GI setting set to diffuse depth 5, Primary and secondary 100% (I know that high but I thought just try and increase to affect the quality. GI Mode: IR+QMC
Sampling set to medium. Here’s another screen grab of one of the frames in the render. -

July 22, 2014 at 3:10 pmAre you using GI method: IR + QMC (full animation)? If not, that’s what you’ll need.
This looks like IR cache errors. If you don’t use the full animation preset the IR cache won’t account for object movement so you’ll be missing shading points when the object moves.
Another option is to use QMC only.

July 22, 2014 at 3:13 pmYes using IR + QMC
I’ll try with just QMC and see if it does any better

July 22, 2014 at 3:33 pmCache doesn’t work with QMC but you can enable Radiosity Maps (in the sampling tab) which usually speeds things up a little.

July 23, 2014 at 10:58 amI’ve done it QMC and it seems to be fine. Thanks for your help on this Adam I appreciate it.

July 23, 2014 at 3:54 pmNo problem. QMC can be slow but it’s the most accurate and trouble-free GI method.
