rendering 3:2 pulldown
We imported some footage where we had to apply 3:2 pulldown. When we render our footage out we applied the same pulldown to our render settings but we see field interpolation. Any suggestions?

You shouldn’t double pulldown. You need to pull back up to 30(29.97)

actually we figured out the problem but still don’t know how to render it out. different shots in the same comp have different pulldowns. So what setting would we render this out in?

I’m confused. What format is that orginal material and why are you adding pulldown if there is already pulldown? The best thing would be to remove any pulldown that’s in the footage (so you should be working in 23.98) and then add pulldown to the entire render so that the pulldown cadence will be consistent throughout.

Yep. To paraphrase:
From 24fps to 29.97fps, pulldown is added in the transfer from video to film.
When importing 29.97 material into AE, pulldown is sometimes removed by you, resulting in footage at 23.98 or 23.976 fps. This is to gain access to full frames. Different clips may have different pulldown cadences, depending on where they were cut.
When rendering the 23.98 comp to 29.97, pulldown is added. The cadence is not important. If you expect to remove it again later, you might want to take note of the setting, I suppose.
