Rendering 30 fps Cineform avi footage without recompression
Hi,
I can’t seem to smart render 30 fps Cineform avi footage in Vegas 9 Pro. That seems a little strange to me because on 24 fps footage I have I can do it, but when I change the settings to 29.97 fps to render the footage, and otherwise all the settings are the same on the renders (and they were shot on the same camera), I don’t get the “No recompression required” message in the preview monitor. Instead, I see the preview of the video itself rendering.
Does anyone know why this would be? I tried changing so many settings and can’t figure it out. I shot on a Canon Vixia HF S21 and used Cineform Neoscene to convert the AVCHD footage to avi. I have the render settings set to match the footage-Cineform codec, progressive scan, 1920×1080 resolution, and square pixel aspect ratio.
I’m having to send a bunch of raw footage I shot to someone and am doing this to break up the files. So it isn’t crucial, because I can still get the rendering done, but it bothers me that I can’t do it without recompression, and I need to keep the file size down.
By the way, if anyone knows how to send large files easily, let me know. I use https://www.yousendit.com, but Comcast limits my uploads to 2 GB and I have about an hour of footage, so I’ll be sending 25 files or so if I can’t figure out an easier way.
